The Space

Casitas del Mar is an adult-only property that is nestled on the edge of the friendly neighborhood, La Gloria, Casitas del Mar offers you the opportunity to experience the welcoming local ambiance. Collect beautiful shells and sea glass as you stroll along the rocky and sandy shore or relax on the patio as you watch the world, and perhaps a few dolphins, go by.

Oceanfront and ideally located mid-island, you have easy access to all island sites by walking or a quick, inexpensive taxi ride. It’s the best of both worlds! There is a full-service grocery store, laundry service, and several neighborhood restaurants, all within easy walking distance.

Perfect for singles, couples, or groups of friends, each of the 4 suites at Casitas del Mar has been tastefully decorated with a Mexican flair. Your Canadian hosts, Joyce and Bob (Isla residents since 1993), have carefully equipped each suite with everything you need to make you feel at home.

The shore in front of the Casitas is rocky and, while excellent for collecting shells and sea glass, it is not conducive to swimming most of the year due to strong wave action. Enclosed water shoes are strongly recommended.

Walking anywhere is an option, however, taxis are readily available on the street and very inexpensive (less than $2 U.S. from the Casitas to downtown). You can also take a bus for 4 pesos per person (less than 40 cents U.S.).

The closest swimmable beach, approximately ¼ mile from the Casitas, is Playa Lancheros. Zama Beach Club, in Sac Bajo, has 3 beautiful swimming pools and a full-service restaurant as well as a lovely beach. The most popular beach on Isla Mujeres, located at the north end of Isla approximately 3 miles away, is Playa Norte (North Beach).

Cleaning Frequency

Maid service every 2 or 3 days. Linens are completely changed at least once in the middle of a 1-week stay.
